Wouldn't you rather narrate than do your own proofreading and audio engineering?

In April 2019, when faced with the decision of going back into the workforce or staying at home with her brand-new baby boy, Fiona made the decision to stay with her family. Newly freed from the working world and looking for activities to fill the time, Fiona started proofreading for her father, William Merryn Hill, who at the time had been narrating about five years. Enjoying her new hobby and curious about the industry, she started to learn how to edit and master audio through a coach, Joseph Brookhouse. Thus, late in 2019, Hillcrest Audio Engineering was born.

In 2020, Fiona’s sister Eleanor joined her in audio engineering and the two Founded Hillcrest Audio Engineering as an official LLC. The business grew rapidly, taking in clients from all over the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and even Hong Kong.  Hillcrest also started working with other professionals to help Authors bring their written works to life.

By 2021, Fiona and Eleanor had begun coaching more editors, in conjunction with training from their own original coach, Joe Brookhouse. Hillcrest started to spearhead operations with Authors and Rights Holders, offering complete audio production packages and walking the client through every step of the process of converting their written words into audiobook format.

Expecting her second child towards the end of 2021, Fiona partnered with IVA Records to help provide her with maternity support during her pregnancy. Since the arrival of the baby, Hillcrest and IVA have continued to have a supportive working relationship.

Fiona lives in the United States with her children Jeremiah and Zoe, cats Adipose and Purrcivle, and their lab Chewy (Chewbarka). Her hobbies include baking, running, and picking up toys from the living room floor.

Eleanor lives in Canada with her cats Biggles, Jeeves, and Tansy, and three lovely sugar-gliders. When not engineering, she enjoys playing board games, hanging out around a fire pit with her friends, the occasional video game, and a good book.
